    Children and Young People

    art workshop in progress

Since 1998 we have been running an artistic programme specially tailored for children and young people with disabilities.

We offer an extensive out-of-school programme - providing arts activities at weekends, in the evenings and during the school holidays.

We also work in partnership with education to provide workshops for school children.

Click here for more information about the activities and workshops we have on offer at the moment.

    Current Events

    Project Ability presents:

Young Talent on the Big Screen

    Saturday 11th October 12 – 1pm, Glasgow Film Theatre

Tickets £2 (available on the door)

A fantastic selection of young people’s films made with Project Ability during 2008. From young people just starting out to more experienced film makers, a range of very different films have been created including dramas, documentaries, comedies and film experiments. This year you can expect a lot of laughs from the many comedy action films, as well as great original soundtracks and other weird, wonderful and thought provoking films.

    Recent Projects

Making Connections saw a six foot high multicoloured mobile phone amongst the innovative array of artwork and short films on display in a multi-media showcase event held in the Arches. Asia Ali from Ethnic Enable said ‘’it is really good to bring our service users here and show their families, it makes them feel more appreciated’’. Around 200 friends and family attended the impressive showcase which was a culmination of work created in visual art and digital arts workshops involving

young people with disabilities aged 16 - 25 from across

    North Glasgow.

Making Connections project DVD available now

for only £2.50 (including post and packaging) -

please call us to get your copy.

The Co-operative Young Film-Makers Festival in Scotland showed films made by young people and included a spoof documentary, a musical gangster love story and

a film dealing with bullying. It also included the film ‘Mary Queen of Scots’, which was made by young people from St Oswald’s Secondary school with Project Ability. It

was the first time films submitted to the annual UK wide festival have been shown

in Scotland. It was a successful collaboration between Project Ability and the

Co-operative Group membership department and we hope to do it again next year.

Painting by lucky numbers at Kibble palace! Young people with learning disabilities from Project Ability’s Saturday art class were drawing a surprising subject with an unusual backdrop – a giant Lottery ball suspended in the air at Kibble Palace in the Botanics. It was part of a campaign to highlight the good causes that benefit from National Lottery funding. Michael Stark, 20 was invited onto Real Radio to talk about how working with Project Ability has helped him develop new confidence and make friends while doing an activity he enjoys.
